Your Wedding in Stoke Minster

Couples getting married in the Minster will need to make certain decisions about the music for their wedding. They may meet the Director of Music at one of the Marriage Preparation Meetings, or arrange to meet him on another occasion.

Couples may wish the Minster Choir to sing at their wedding. The choir will sing an anthem during the signing of the registers. Perhaps more importantly they will lead the singing of the hymns. When a large number of people come together for a marriage service, even if they are used to singing in church, they may be in a different church, and with a different group of people than they are used to. In these circumstances, they are often reticent to sing, leaving everything feeling rather 'flat'. The Minster choir, by leading the singing, can 'lift' the singing and help to make the wedding service the special occasion it should be.

Couples will need to choose the organ music to be played for the arrival of the Bride, and the departure of the newly-married couple. They should discuss this with the Director of Music.
